Lots of good reporting about the most recent CDC foodborne illness numbers from Food Liability Law Blog (here and here) and Marler Blog (here), among others. The gist is that the most recent CDC numbers, shown in the chart above, seem to show a general decline in the number of foodborne illness outbreaks in this country (with the notable exception being vibrio, a pathogen most commonly found in raw oysters, particularly those from warm, polluted waters like the Gulf). Hooray! Less people getting sick from food! Right? Maybe.
